Job Purpose

The successful candidate will report to the Senior Manager Execution and will be responsible for managing the receipt, storage, issuance, and control of MEIP materials, tools, and equipment required for construction and engineering projects. The Stores Controller is also responsible for ensuring that all materials are available, accounted for, and handled efficiently to support uninterrupted project execution, while maintaining accurate inventory records and upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications/Experience:

Qualifications:

  • National Senior Certificate or equivalent to NQF 4

  • Technical training would be an added advantage

  • Computer literacy (MS Excel; Word and Outlook)

  • Forklift license

  • Driver’s license


Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience working as a stores controller, in a similar role, preferably within the construction and engineering industry.

  • Hands-on experience in receiving, issuing, and controlling construction materials, especially MEIP-related components.

  • Experience working in a construction site or engineering project environment.

  • Familiarity with stock control systems (manual and/or computerized) and accurate inventory record-keeping.

  • Experience in reading and interpreting piping drawings and material certificates and understanding the quality requirements with handling, storing and issuing of piping materials.

Requirements

  • Inventory Management: Accurately receive, record, and store materials, components, and tools related to mechanical and piping systems.

  • Stock Control: Maintain stock levels, monitor usage, and reorder materials as necessary to ensure a continuous supply without overstocking.

  • Materials Issuance: Issue materials, tools, and equipment to site workers and subcontractors in line with project requirements.

  • Stock Audits: Conduct regular stock checks and audits to ensure accuracy and minimize material wastage.

  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all inventory transactions, prepare stock reports, and track material usage.

  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all materials are stored according to health and safety guidelines and regulations.

  • Coordinate Deliveries: Schedule and coordinate the delivery of materials to site and oversee proper unloading and storage.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with the procurement, engineering, and project management teams to ensure timely material delivery and availability.

  • Tools & Equipment Maintenance: Ensure tools and equipment are in good condition and are regularly maintained or replaced when necessary.
