Job Purpose

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the maintenance and optimisation of systems to ensure that the capacity of the production process is maximised.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Trade test MQA/MERSETA preferred.

  • Must be computer literate.

  • Minimum 10 years of combined field experience in the petrochemical and power generation

    construction.

  • Good technical experience in testing of electrical, instrumentation cables and functional testing of

    electrical and instrumentation systems, installations and equipment.

  • Proven track record in supervision of construction employees/ teams.

Requirements

  • Plan and coordinate resources and equipment for the field tasks to conduct the work in a safe, timely and cost- effective manner.

  • Provide regular feedback to the construction manager on progress, achievements, safety and quality-related issues.

  • Ensure that the standard of workmanship and the materials/equipment is compliant with the specifications and that specified inspections and tests are conducted and records maintained to

    substantiate conformance.

  • Ensure correct material, machinery, equipment and personnel are available and suitable for the

    completion of work.

  • Assess risks and hazards involved in tasks and methods to manage the hazards in order to prevent incidents, injury and damage.

  • Ensure continuous training and coaching of employees in your area of responsibility.

  • Provide and maintain a safe environment with minimum risk to health and safety.

  • Plan and supervise the work of electricians, boilermakers and other staff on site.

  • Attend weekly or monthly progress meetings internal and external.

  • Drive the culture of safe execution of all construction tasks.

  • Monitor employee health and fitness and address any inconsistencies with the Site Safety Advisor.

  • Performance of multi-skilled craft workers in the installation, repair, preventive maintenance, removal, or adjustment of equipment or components as per established project procedures, requirements and specifications.

  • Perform interpretation of engineering drawings, work orders, specifications and manufacturer’s

    technical data materials. Also assists or performs diagnostics of equipment failures and recommends solutions.

  • Approves completed work orders and stores requisitions for materials.

  • Responsible for quantity and condition of assigned tools and equipment.

  • While supervising others, has responsibility for the safety of those being supervised, and ensures that they comply with established safety policies and procedures, and practice safe work habits.

  • Observes work in progress to ensure that procedures are followed, and materials used conform to specifications.

  • Examines workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standards; approves installations.

  • Establish effective communications with the Client's field representative, through discussions, and such other arrangements as are required to maintain close working relationships.
