Senior Manager: M&P

Job Purpose

The successful candidate will report directly to General Manager and be responsible for managing the ProGO Sasolburg Mechanical and Piping execution function of the business and support in driving the ProGO “I AM SPARTA” values in the business. The core of this responsibility is to ensure a strong operational M&P service to enable safe, efficient execution to the highest quality standards possible. 


 Mechanical – Btech with at least 10 years experience, 5 of which at management level or National

Diploma with at least 15 years experience, of which 5 at management level

 Professional Registration within one of the following industry governing bodies – SACPCMP

(PrCM/PrCPM), PMI (CAPM/PMP) Strong Wish

 A postgraduate Diploma or equivalent will be an added advantage.

 More than 10 years’ experience within the construction and project delivery environment.

 Experience in executing projects for clients that operate major hazardous installations and project

execution/engineering/construction organisations.

 Adept at interacting with senior management (internally and externally).

 Good computer skills and document proficiency - able to self-originate documents.

 Demonstrated industry reputation and ability to build/maintain strong relationships across a network

of clients and professionals.

 Strong technical and commercial background. Understand the scope, execution, and commercial


 Strong ability to manage diverse teams – the successful candidate will manage teams that build up

the following functions: Mechanical and Piping on-site Supervisors and teams.

 The role would also require project management support for the small projects’ basket.

 Practical experience in supporting the development of field interfacing and tracking systems. 

 Practical experience in construction or in the implementation of projects in client facilities or

operational areas.

and processes. 


Required Outputs and Responsibilities:

 Works with the senior and general management teams to develop tactics and gives input into the

strategic narrative.

 Building a competent M&P team that supports project execution, with the flexibility of scaling up or

down, depending on the project specific scale and requirements.

 Ensure and lead the delivery of high-quality M&P scopes on projects, emphasising the integrity of the

M&P function and fostering reliable partnerships with clients by maintaining a consistent level of


 Support the geographic profit centre strategy to achieve targets (budget, growth etc), through

proposals/quotation development and accurate estimation.

 Legal appointment for small projects basket.

 Collaborates with other profit centres and client support interface.

 Supports, promotes and lives the desirable elements of culture within the office (SPARTA Values).

 Supports continuous improvement in the quality and value of the projects and services delivered by
